Los Banos Talk
On April 1, 2021, at approximately 6:14 a.m., the Los Banos Police Department responded to the intersection of Mercy Springs Rd and Pacheco Blvd regarding a vehicle versus pedestrian traffic collision.
Upon arriving on scene, officers found an adult female unresponsive in the east bound lanes of Pacheco Boulevard, just east of Mercy Springs Rd. Officers attempted life saving first aide, but the female was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Witnesses reported seeing the female crossing south, inside of the intersection, and outside of the marked crosswalk, when she was struck by a PG&E truck, traveling east on Pacheco Boulevard.
According to police, drugs and/or alcohol do not appear to be a factor with the driver of the truck. There were no other injuries reported as a result of this collision. The identity of the pedestrian has not been confirmed by the Merced County Coroner’s Office.
The intersection remained partially closed while officers completed their investigation from about 6:20 a.m. until approximately 8:49 a.m.
The Los Banos Police Department wants anyone who may have witnessed the collision and has not yet provided a statement to contact Officer Tyler Wilson at (209) 827-2562.
